Dee
has been making this sauce for her family since since 1974 when
her mother-in-law shared her recipe. The aroma has since been
a comforting welcome to her children and grandchildren throughout
the years each time they return home to the Magnaterra organic
farm. It was on the farm in 2005, after growing the herbs with
organic methods, that the recipe was modified.
The
original recipe used dehydrated herbs, whereas this recipe uses
organic fresh herbs. The original recipe used tomato paste, cheese
and meat. This recipe uses no meat, cheese or tomato paste, just
pure extra virgin olive oil. Each family member thinks nothing of
blending tomatoes, olive oil, and herbs weekly to try to recreate
this feeling in their own homes.
In 2008, Dee and her husband, Paul, sold their canned tomatoes from
the farm with the instructions for the creation of this amazing
sauce at the Bob Evan's Homestead festival. The response was overwhelming.
In 2009, they decided to make it easier on the consumer by skipping
the instructions and selling the end product of the sauce canned
that customers directly tasted at the festival booth. That is what
is available for you to buy today. Now you can simply open the jar
and immediately know the sense of home the Magnaterra children feel
once you warm it and welcome your own family and friends with its
simple, organic, goodness.
